  • Disclose affiliation when asked — never hide that we’re Golden Child
  • Build karma through value-first participation (target: 50+ comment karma before any brand mentions)

  • HIGH: Threads where misinformation could harm a pet (raw feeding to puppies, ignoring vet advice for serious conditions, recall-related)
  • MEDIUM: General nutrition questions, food recommendations, brand comparisons
  • LOW: Logged but skipped — casual discussions, memes, off-topic

Only HIGH and MEDIUM priority threads get responses.

  1. Acknowledge the owner’s concern or situation with empathy
  2. Provide science-backed guidance relevant to their question
  3. Recommend consulting their vet when appropriate (almost always)
  4. Close warmly with an offer to answer follow-ups
  • Follow the 90/10 rule: 90% genuinely helpful content, 10% or less brand-adjacent
  • Never mention Golden Child products by name
  • Never mention competitors by name
  • Never argue with other commenters
  • Walk away from hostile threads
  • Flag FDA recalls with specific details (UPC codes, disposal instructions)
  • Monitoring runs every 4 hours
  • Results grouped into daily rolling threads in Slack
  • Deduplication via SQLite database (reddit_seen table)
